New Schemes

Rastriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY ):-

Under Rastriya Krishi Vikas Yonaja Govt. has sanctioned a Rs.2500.00 lakh project for strengthening fish marketing activities in Karnataka State. This project is spread over a period of 4 years from 2008-09 to 2011-2012. Corporation is taking up following activities under RKVY.

  1. Modern Fish processing plant Rs. 500 lakh
  2. Pre-Processing Plant (2 nos) Rs. 215 lakh
  3. Ice plants (6 nos) Rs.420 lakh
  4. Integrated Fish retail outlets with canteen (24 nos) Rs. 839 lakh
  5. Refrigerated and Insulated vehicles (7 nos) Rs. 66.15 lakh
  6. Hygienic Fish Markets(20 nos) Rs. 200 lakh
  7. Frozen Storage  Rs.  35 lakh
  8. Ornamental Fish Production Units (1nos) 25 lakh

Corporation has opened 13 Integrated fish kiosks at Chilimbi, B.C.Road, Puttur, Sullia, Madikeri, Thirthahalli, Shimoga, Hassan, Tumkur, Kolar, Cubbon-Park, Indiranagar and Chitradurga and Mathsyadarshinis at Cubbon Park, Indiranagar, Tumkur, Kolar and Madikeri.. Corporation’s cold chain is being strengthened by inclusion of refrigerated and insulated vehicles. Action is initiated for establishing a modern fish processing plant at Hoige bazaar, Mangalore. Pre-Processing plant  at Mangalore is completed and Malpe is nearing completion. 10x2 MT ice plants at  Honnavar is commissioned on 16.11.2011 & 40 MT  Ice plant at Mangalore is commissioned on 12.04.2012. 10MT ice plant at  Bhatkal and 10x2 Mt ice plant at  Karwar are under construction.  Hygienic Fish Markets at Varamballi, Koteshwara and Hunsemakki are opened and put to use. The fish markets at Bajpe, Hejmady, Mudubelle & Kodibag are nearing completion. Fish markets at  Amdalli, Avarsa and Kemral are under construction.

National Agricultural Innovation Program (NAIP):-

Corporation is a Consortium Partner in the ICAR’s (Indian Counsel Agricultural Research) National Agricultural Innovation Program implemented through Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) Cochin on “Responsible Harvesting and Utilization of Selected Small

Pelegics and Fresh Water Fishes”. This program is spread over a period of 5 years in which value added fishery products will be produced and marketed through Corporation’s cold chain and hence fetching better price to the poor fishermen.

In addition Corporation has already embarked on the production of Fish Sausage and Minced Meat using the facilities at College of Fisheries Mangalore on trail basis and has started marketing in Bangalore city. Corporation plans to establish a unit in Mangalore for production of value added fish products from low value fishes.
